The brief
Hove is not a suburb of Brighton and will tell you so. It is a flatter, calmer, better-dressed town that happens to share a seafront, and it is where you go when you want to eat well and hear the person opposite you.
Where to eat
FOURTH AND CHURCH for wine and a plate of cheese that ruins your evening plans. Semola for the pasta. Marmalade and Egg & Spoon for brunch that takes two hours by design. Riddle & Finns when it has to be shellfish.
Where to drink
The Urchin for beer and oysters, which is a combination Hove got right first. BeerBelly for the bottle shop crawl. NORD Hove for the long one.
The seafront
Beach huts, lawns, the widest promenade in the city. Bring a flask, take the western view, stay for the sunset.
