48 hours in Brighton
A weekend that avoids everything you have been told to do: North Laine coffee, a Seven Dials dinner, Kemptown after dark and a Hove morning to recover in.

Friday
6pm. Drop your bag, walk to the South Lanes, start with a glass of something cold standing up.
8pm. Dinner in Seven Dials. Book it before you get on the train.
11pm. Kemptown. St James's Street is awake, the cabaret room is halfway through the second act, and nobody is going home.
Saturday
9.30am. North Laine coffee and a pastry eaten on a kerb.
11am. Vintage rails on Sydney Street, records on Trafalgar Street, no plan.
1pm. Lunch on the Hanover slope, then the walk up Elm Grove that you will regret and remember.
4pm. The sea. However it looks, go and stand next to it.
8pm. The Lanes, a steak or a shellfish counter, then whichever basement still has a door open.
Sunday
11am. Hove. Church Road, a long brunch, the papers, the lawns.
3pm. Undercliff walk to Rottingdean and back if the legs allow.
5pm. One last pint facing the water, then the train.
